Course Content

Beginner Level (A1-A2)

  • Alphabet & Sounds:
  • Nasal vowels (an, en, in, on, un)
  • Silent letters (h muet, -ent endings)
  • Liaisons (les amis → “lez ami”)
  • Greetings & Essential Phrases:
  • Bonjour (Hello), Merci (Thank you), Comment ça va ? (How are you?)
  • Introducing yourself (Je m’appelle…, Je viens de…)
  • Basic Vocabulary:
  • Numbers (1-100), days, months, colors, family, food, weather
  • Grammar Fundamentals:
  • Gender (masculine/feminine) and articles (le, la, les, un, une)
  • Present tense (-er, -ir, -re verbs: parler, finir, vendre)
  • Common irregular verbs (être, avoir, aller, faire)
  • Negation (ne…pas)
  • Basic questions (Qui ? Où ? Quand ? Pourquoi ?)
  • Simple dialogues (e.g., ordering at a café, asking for directions)
  • Role-playing daily scenarios (shopping, travel)
  • Short texts (menus, signs, ads)
  • Writing simple sentences (e.g., describing your family or daily routine)

Intermediate Level (B1-B2)

  • Past Tenses:
  • Passé composé (J’ai mangé) vs. imparfait (Je mangeais)
  • Plus-que-parfait (J’avais mangé)
  • Future Tenses:
  • Futur simple (Je mangerai)
  • Futur proche (Je vais manger)
  • Conditional & Subjunctive:
  • Conditionnel présent (Je voudrais…)
  • Intro to subjunctive (Il faut que tu fasses…)
  • Pronouns:
  • Direct/indirect objects (me, te, lui, leur)
  • Y and en (J’y vais, J’en ai deux)
  • Expressing opinions (Je pense que…)
  • Debating topics (culture, travel, society)
  • News articles, short stories (Le Petit Nicolas)
  • Writing emails, essays (~300 words)
  • French podcasts (Coffee Break French), TV shows (Extra French)

Advanced Level (C1-C2)

  • Advanced Subjunctive:
  • Bien que, afin que, pourvu que
  • Literary Tenses:
  • Passé simple (in novels)
  • Formal vs. Informal:
  • Registre soutenu (academic/business) vs. argot (slang)
  • Idioms (C’est la fin des haricots !)
  • Literature (Camus, Hugo), films (Amélie, La Haine)
  • Analyzing news, politics, and philosophy
  • Business vocabulary (réunion, contrat, négociation)
  • Academic writing (reports, dissertations)
